Dear Sir/Ma’am,
You are cordially invited to partner with the Youth Ministry Team of First Baptist Church, Lincoln, Nebraska, in our new global information technology ministry called “We-KARE.” We have been blessed with an opportunity toassist two parishes in Jamaica by helping to reduce the “digital divide” and build a network of friendships between our two nations.
Our congregation is fully committed to making our “We-KARE CyberMinistry” an overwhelming success and a model for future international development efforts. We will be traveling to St. Ann’s and St. Mary’s Parish, Jamaica, on June 3 -10, 2008. The objectives for this mission trip include setting up “Cyber Centers” in both parishes, establishing a small computer lab at a local pre-school, providing basic computer training for youth and adults, and conducting an “e-Vacation Bible School.”
We will be working in the interior regions of the country, where there is a great need due to high poverty rates, poor housing, and little educational opportunities. We will be set up two Cyber Centers with “on-line” computers and web cam capability. Our e-VBS program will include traditional biblical studies, arts and crafts, games, music, and “hands-on” computer and internet training.
In addition to working with the youth, we will also provide basic computer training to small business owners and help them harness “cyberspace” as a tool to produce and market their products globally via e-commerce. We feel that by working with children and adults, our ministry team will have the greatest opportunity to make a lasting and important contribution to the future well-being of the people in this under-developed region of the world. Additionally, because the Cyber Centers will have internet access with video/audio capability, our We-KARE team will be able to continue our friendships and development efforts once we return to Nebraska.
We strongly believe that our We-KARE Ministry will help improve thequality of life and boost economic growth globally. It is our hope that by helping lay a strong moral and economic foundation via cyberspace in developing nations such as Jamaica, that we will help promote a more peaceful and prosperous future for all mankind.
Everyday people—learning to walk everywhere with Jesus in truth, obedience and love—every day.
Our Jamaica team includes 30+ high school and college age youth, and adult sponsors who are fully committed to making this flagship mission a success—but we really need your help. Any assistance that you can provide in the following areas would be greatly appreciated:
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this very important information! Please help us spread the word about our exciting new international ministry program. We would be very happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding our “We-KARE” ministry and would welcome the chance to visit with you personally or speak to a group from your company.
We know that this is a bit “out of the box” thinking in terms of donation requests, but we believe whole-heartedly that this is an “out of the box” project with long term results and deserves as much help as possible! Anyhelp that you can give us would be greatly appreciated! Please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
In Christ,
